Fènix Jiu-Jitsu is based out of Hickory NC. We are proud to be a part of the Renzo Gracie Lineage, under the supervison of Professor Derek "TC" Richardson, owner of Leadership Martial Arts in Charlotte NC. Our goal is to uphold the tradition of Self-Defense based Jiu-Jitsu, but we also enjoy the sport side of Jiu-Jitsu as well.
Head Instructor, Fénix Jiu-Jitsu
Jason Bebber is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Brown belt under Derek "TC" Richardson. He has been active in various martial arts for over a decade and began instructing Jiu- Jitsu in 2014. Through Jiu-Jitsu, Jason has created a family of loyal students and continuously pushes them to reach their goals. His style of instruction is very laid back, but still extremely effective. He is also a firm believer of leading from the front; whether it's local tournaments (winning multiple gold and silver medals) or traveling for a Super Fight, he is always looking for a new challenge.
Assistant Instructor, Fénix Jiu-Jitsu
Daniel received his Purple Belt Professor Richardson on one of the team's trip to Renzo Gracie Academy in March of 2017. Being a lifelong student, he is always looking to increase his knowledge on human movement and training styles; whether it is other Martial Arts or fitness modalities, he is always looking to improve by learning as much as possible.
From the basics to the advanced techniques, Daniel is one of the best in the business at breaking down flaws and building proper form. His passion for teaching shows in every training session. He has instructed thousands of clients both in the gym and online with his YouTube channel.
Mobility is one of the most overlooked aspects of fitness. Strength is a great tool to have, but most strength is only in a short range of motion. Increasing mobility will give an athlete strength through the full range of motion for those times when they find themselves in a odd position. It is also a great modality for active recovery. Instead of sitting around on rest days, our athletes put in a couple low intensity mobility sessions to keep them active while their muscles recover. This helps to reduce time needed between hard training sessions and helps to protect the joints by loosening and strengthening the tendons and ligaments.
