CBD Oil is Not a Magical Cure

CBD (Cannabidiol) oil is a natural product that has been blown way out of proportion lately. It seems like the new craze akin to Thrive, I’m just waiting for the patch to come out. To hear the sales reps talk about it, it cures everything from sleep to cancer to joint pain to even death. “It’s an all-natural miracle!” ……… No, it’s not. It’s just another nifty little over priced and unregulated supplement that can be beneficial if used correctly. The problem is, as with everything someone is selling, they over sale and under deliver.

The recent science shows that CBD oil is pretty powerful and useful for those in chronic pain and others looking to decrease their recovery time. This is undeniable. Many of its benefits come from one aspect of the chemical makeup. This is its anti-inflammatory properties. Inflammation is not a villain by any means as it is a crucial part of the building and recovery process, but it can become an issue if it is left to run freely throughout the body. So, if it is proven to work, why would I speak against it? Because it is a supplement sold as a cure. It will not cure anything alone. The body has its own ways of dealing with inflammation when giving the proper tools. The white blood cells, endocrine system, and other processes are set in place to protect the body from this.

The problem is that the Standard American Diet (SAD is the perfect acronym in my opinion) is based around inflammatory foods. (I know what you’re think, “Here he goes with that natural foods diet bullshit again……” me and my damn healthy lifestyle choices…..) Sugar, deep fried foods, high fructose corn syrup, gluten, soy, and so much more it is ridiculous, are all to blame. These foods keep the population inflamed to the point of medical intervention at an alarming rate. Many metabolic diseases can be cured through dietary changes alone.

So what does this have to do with CBD oil? It does not make sense to take a powerful anti-inflammatory supplement if you are eating an inflammatory diet. That’s kinda like a diabetic taking their insulin while chugging a soda. (I bet your sales rep didn’t sit down to talk about dietary changes, did they. That’s because that doesn’t sell products.) The ketogenic diet, as well as other elimination diets, has been shown to have many of the same benefits of CBD oil and it doesn’t cost $80 a bottle. When you combine the two you get outrageous results. (No, I do not have a stake in selling keto supplements nor do I suggest that my clients buy any of them. I suggest keto to some because it will be beneficial not because I make money to do so.) That’s why I use both. Oh yeah, I use CBD oil when needed, but I also control my inflammation through diet and movement first and supplement second.

In conclusion, do your own research. A sales reps’ job is to sale not educate. After making dietary changes, try some CBD if you are interested and let me know what you think. Food is always the best medicine and usually easier on the wallet. If you sale CBD oil and have an opinion on the subject, let me know. I’m happy to sit down and talk to everyone.
